Two Tires Burst on American Airlines Boeing 787 During Landing

An American Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner experienced a technical issue involving its braking system during a flight from Barcelona, Spain, to Chicago, United States. Two tires reportedly burst following the aircraft’s landing at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
During flight AA41 on October 20, 2026, the pilots informed air traffic controllers before landing that the right brake might be dragging. The flight crew subsequently declared an emergency and brought the aircraft to a stop on the runway after landing.
According to reports citing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), there were 234 passengers and 11 crew members on board. Following the landing, passengers disembarked using stairs and were transported to the terminal by bus.
The aircraft was subsequently taken out of service for technical inspection. The exact cause of the braking issue and the two tire failures has not yet been determined, while the FAA has launched an investigation into the incident.
